Before My Surgery

  • It is your responsibility to arrange in advance for a responsible adult to drive you home and remain with you the first 24 hours after surgery.  You cannot drive yourself or be left alone if you have had general or spinal anesthesia or sedation.
  • Notify your physician before coming to the center if there is any change in your physical condition, such as cold or fever.
  • If you have not been contacted 48 hours before your surgery, you must call the center for specific instructions.
  • If you wear contact lenses or glasses, bring a case for their safekeeping.  We provide containers for removable dentures and bridgework.
  • It is important to follow your anesthesiologists instructions regarding eating and drinking fluids prior to your surgery. NO FOOD AFTER MIDNIGHT; Clear liquids are allowed up to 3 hours prior to your surgery, clear liquids include black coffee, tea, apple juice, plain Jell-o, soda, no milk products, pulpy juices or additives i.e. non-dairy creamer.
